We provide half day classes in both the morning and afternoon to best meet the needs of children and families. All of our classes are mixed ages, meaning we include children ages 3, 4, and 5 together in one class. We believe that each child is unique, and view learning as a process. Our educators focus on individual development in six domains, planning and facilitating a unique learning journey for each child. Our small child to teacher ratio (5:1) helps to support this individualized approach. NOTE: children must be 2 years, 7 months old by the first day of school to attend.
Non-Discrimination Policy: All programs, policies, and services of Discovery Learning Pittsburgh Inc. are administered without discrimination in regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or handicap status.
Children engage in interest-based investigations throughout the course of the school year. One project may last from one week to six weeks in length, depending on depth of student interest and engagement. During this time, children may be involved in immersion of the topic (play, exploration, asking “I wonder” questions), research of the topic (experiments, books, artifacts), or the creation of a culminating event or piece of work that demonstrates learning.
Children have the opportunity to work cooperatively with other children as they explore freely in centers.
